You may remember this character from such episodes of The Simpsons as “Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment” and “A Fish Called Selma.”
One of Selma’s many ex-husbands, Troy McClure was based on and received his name from the B movie actors, Troy Donahue and Doug McClure. There was no limit to the quirky and ridiculous educational videos and infomercials the character would appear in.
The final appearance of Troy McClure occurred in “Bart the Mother” (Season 10 – Episode 3). The characters of Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz were retired following Phil Hartman’s murder in 1998.
