Judith Sheindlin – known around the world as Judge Judy – has been on our television screens for over 25 years, but her career began decades earlier where she worked as a prosecutor in New York’s family court system. In 1982 she was appointed a criminal court judge and finally a family court judge until her retirement in 1996. Over the course of her career she heard approximately 20,000 cases.
Judge Judy’s first book Don’t Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It’s Raining: America’s Toughest Family Court Judge Speaks Out was published in 1996, the same year her television show made its debut. She has gone on to author a further six books in more recent years.
Even after two decades on the air, Judge Judy continues to draw several million viewers each episode. People love Judge Judy’s no-nonsense attitude and hearing some ridiculous court cases.
