When it comes to lawyers, Lionel Hutz was considered bargain basement due to losing considerably more cases than he would win. Most people would never trust a shopping mall lawyer, let alone one which works at “I Can’t Believe It’s a Law Firm!” and lies about their credentials; Lionel was the only lawyer the Simpson family could afford.
Yet another ex-husband of Selma, during his many appearances on The Simpsons we learned about his issues with alcohol; the fact that he has a number of aliases; and that he babysits and also runs a shoe-repair business out of his law office in order to make ends meet.
As one of the two Simpsons characters retired following the tragic murder of Phil Hartman, the last episode Lionel Hutz appeared in a speaking role was “Reality Bites” (Season 9 – Episode 9).
The role of the Simpson family lawyer has been taken over by Gil Gunderson in more recent years.
Even some 20-odd years since Lionel Hutz’s departure from the show, Simpsons fans are still showing their love for the character online, and with tattoos, of course.
