Abraham Jebediah “Abe” Simpson II, more often referred to as Grampa Simpson, is the stereotypical senile grandparent. Living at Springfield Retirement Castle, he is known for waffling on, telling strange stories that are unlikely to be true.
Dan Castellaneta voices both Abe and Homer. Grampa Simpson has married and divorced several women – one of them even being Homer’s sister-in-law Selma – and is father to Homer and two additional illegitimate children.
For this Simpsons character, Matt Groening actually decided not to name Grampa Simpson after any of his relatives; however, in the most crazy of coincidences, the writers chose the name Abraham which just so happened to be his own grandfather’s name.
Compared to other members of the Simpson and Bouvier families, Grampa Simpson isn’t nearly as common in the tattoo world.
Maybe Grampa Simpson reminds you of an older relative, or he just happens to be your favourite character. If you go out and get a Grampa Simpson tattoo make sure to tag me on Instagram @the.tattooed.archivist
