G + T = Gin Tattoos

Forget your usual gin and tonic – how about a gin tattoo instead?

Gin, a distilled grain alcohol with juniper berries, has its origins in the 11th century AD where it was used used as a medicine for hundreds of years.

Gin came to be known as such through several translations from Old English, French and Dutch words, going all the way back to the Latin juniperus – the word for juniper.

These days, it’s not recommended to self-medicate with alcohol, and yet gin is more popular than ever. There are a wide variety of gin brands now available which offer gin flavoured with other botanicals, fruits, or spices. There is, however, a legal defintion as to what can be considered gin – click here to read more.

World Gin Day falls on the second Saturday in June, but don’t let that deter you from imbibing. Let’s toast to whatever we please with these gin tattoos.
