Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, the romantic crime movie, True Romance turns 30 in 2023.
With a star-studded cast, True Romance follows the relationship between Clarence Worley and Alabama Whitman, played by Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette respectively. Other notable actors include Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, James Gandolfini, and Val Kilmer.
True Romance only just made its budget back at the box office, and was considered a failure at the time. At the time of publishing, the movie has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (both critic and audience).
I’ll admit that True Romance is movie I am entirely unfamiliar with. I only discovered it when I spent time looking for leopard print tattoos on Instagram for a different list, and I got curious about what all these “You’re so cool” love heart tattoos referred to. I can’t give much insight into the plot, but the advice I offer in all of my tattoo lists can be applied to a True Romance tattoo.
Re-watch the movie and take note of your favourite scenes, clothing, quotes, set dressing, or landscapes/locations; its these elements which you should share with your chosen tattoo artist. If you fall in love with the work of an artist featured here, go ahead and contact them and ask if they’d be willing to create a new piece in their same style.
These True Romance tattoos are so cool, but it’s most certainly uncool to copy any of these designs.
