A peo-knee is a term coined by tattooers and refers to tattoos of peonies on knees. Just in case you were wondering, I didn’t incorrectly spell peony in the title. Pretty clever, but also pretty self explanatory… and yet here I am still explaining it to you because I have a need to over complicate everything.
Pain is so subjective when it comes to tattooing – some say their knees were excruciating and others found it no more painful than any other body part. Beauty is pain when it comes to tattooing; a couple of hours of discomfort is well worth the end result.
A peony is such a classic floral choice for a tattoo, and one especially common when it comes to filling that awkward space on ones kneecaps.
I’ve put together this collection of peo-knee tattoos which feature pieces in a range of colours and styles from some familiar and new to me tattoo artists. Which is your favourite?
A peony is my next choice for a knee tattoo, to compliment the yellow rose on my other knee. Are you interested in a peo-knee or another flower for your knee tattoo?
