How Would You Style Your Own Betty Spaghetty Tattoo?

Betty Spaghetty turns 25 this year – will you be adding a toy from your collection to your tattoo collection?

Betty Spaghetty was created by Elonne Dantzen and licensed to the Ohio Art Company in 1998. A bendable doll with a range of accessories enabled children to swap out Betty’s hands, feet and shoes, and her rubber hair meant different hairstyles could be created.

Like Barbie, siblings and best friends were added to the Betty Spaghetty line. Originally there were Betty’s best friends Zoe and Hannah, and her younger sisters Ally and Emily.

In the toy’s prime, Betty Spaghetty was a McDonald’s Happy Meal toy, there was a children’s book written, and a CD titled Smash Hits was released in select European countries. Do you own any of these items?

Betty Spaghetty was discontinued in 2004 due to poor sales, but returned in 2007 with a new look, only to be discontinued again in 2008.

With each new re-launch, more characters from around the globe, and even animals, were added to the line. These included:

  • Katy – baby sister;
  • Mandy – cousin from Hollywood;
  • Tess – Australia;
  • Olivia – New York City;
  • Luiz – London;
  • Nikki – Paris (inspired by Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton perhaps?); and
  • Dakota the horse, Jake the dog and Chloe the cat;

    Betty Spaghetty was relaunched by Moose Toys in 2016 without much success and production halted the following year.

I wasn’t this toys age demographic when first launched, but I’m sure there’s many fans out there. If a Betty Spaghetty doll was a cherished toy to you as a child, how about adding a tattoo to your collection?

A Betty Spaghetty tattoo can stay true to how the toy looked brand new out of the box, or have it styled just how you could dress and bend the hair. It could even make for the perfect sibling or friend matching tattoo – take your pick of which character you prefer from the Betty Spaghetty toy line.

One thing’s for sure: no one can ever discontinue your Betty Spaghetty tattoo.
