Undertaker Tattoos As Impressive As His WrestleMania Record

Mark Calaway began his wrestling training in 1986, aged 21. After spending time in other wrestling promotions, he made his debut at the then WWF’s 1990’s Survivor Series. Despite being referenced as his first match in the company, he did wrestle two matches prior to the event, both of which aired weeks after the pay-pay-view. The Undertaker was Ted DiBiase’s mystery partner and part of his “Million Dollar Team”.

Calaway’s gimmick was inspired by undertakers depicted in Wild West television westerns. He was originally billed as Kane the Undertaker, however, the first name dropped and eventually used for his kayfabe brother. ‘Takers original manager was Brother Love, but just a few months later, Paul Bearer took over.

After many memorable matches, it’s his WrestleMania record which will never be forgotten (or beaten). With 21 straight victories at WrestleMania, the streak was finally broken by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX in 2014. His second loss at the event came three years later at WrestleMania 33 at the hands of Roman Reigns. The Undertaker ended his career with a 25-2 WrestleMania record.

Over the years, he had defeated the likes of Jake Roberts, Kane, Triple H (3 times), Ric Flair, Edge, John Cena, Shawn Michaels (2 times), amongst others. His wins weren’t all by the standard pinfall, submission, or disqualification as there was a casket victory, and one via burial – both quite fitting for The Undertaker.

Calaway was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year, after his retirement in November, 2020 and 30 years with the WWE.

Attitude Era Undertaker will forever be my favourite with The Ministry of Darkness angle. Which version or era of The Undertaker do you prefer?

With three decades of matches, promos, photoshoots, and storylines involving The Undertaker, you won’t find it difficult to discover inspiration images for your tattoo vision board, but choosing the perfect one may be more challenging.

Spend time finding the right tattoo artist and you won’t want to bury yourself alive or have The Undertaker close a casket on you in order to hide a terrible tattoo.
