You’ll Love These Tunnock’s Teacake Tattoos a Tonne

The Tunnock’s brand was founded in Scotland back in 1890 by Thomas Tunnock, and to this day is still owned by the Tunnock family.

Developed by Sir Boyd Tunnock in 1956, Tunnock’s Teacakes consist of a round shortbread biscuit topped with Italian meringue and then coated with either milk or dark chocolate. Those with the red and silver foil are the milk chocolate variety, with dark chocolate teacakes covered with blue, black and gold foil.

I was today years old when I discovered that Tunnock’s Teacakes are stocked in Australian supermarkets (likely the international section) and that they’re really a biscuit and not a cake at all. Arnott’s Biscuits actually produce a similar product called Royals which differs only due to the addition of a raspberry filling.

I have a feeling that there’s a couple more teacake tattoos floating around out there, but just haven’t been tagged appropriately on Instagram. Until I can find you more, enjoy these tattoos and maybe an actual Tunnock’s Teacake or two…
