It’s April 11 which means it’s National Poutine Day. Will you be celebrating this iconic Quebec dish with a huge serving of poutine or a tattoo? Why not both?!
Poutine originated in Quebec during the late 1950s and is now widely considered to be Canada’s national dish. Consisting of a pile of French fries, topped with cheese curds and smothered in brown gravy, poutine is the ultimate Canadian comfort (or hangover) food
Only recently was April 11 proclaimed as National Poutine Day, but it’s actually February when poutine is really celebrated. Throughout the month, La Poutine Week events take place across the country and participating restaurants put their own spin on poutine, with some variations including mac + cheese and even duck confit.
Many of the poutine tattoos you’ll find in this post are in the traditional style – a reflection of how most consumers of poutine like to stay true to the traditional recipe.
Will you be inspired to proclaim your love for poutine with a tattoo?
