You may be thinking that forget-me-not is a rather unusual name for a plant, and it is. It’s thought to be linked to a German legend where a man fell into a river while attempting to collect flowers and cried out, “Forget me not,” as he drowned; it’s rather morbid, just like some regional meanings for frangipanis.

There are 74 accepted species of forget-me-not, but one specific species, Myosotis alpestris is the state flower of both Alaska and Dalsland, Sweden.

Forget-me-nots come in white and cream varieties, however, for a tattoo, pink, or shades of blue and mauve would work best for longevity. Use these tattoos as inspiration and a way to find a tattoo artist, but remember not to copy any of these designs.
