A dog of many names, dachshund is a German term and literally translates to “badger dog”, but are
more commonly referred to as a wiener or sausage dog and feature in many “hot dog” tattoos.
Despite their small stature and unusual body shape, in the past, dachshunds have been used for hunting purposes – now they’re generally found in homes around the world. In fact, dachshunds rank as one of the top ten most popular breeds in almost 1/3 of the major US cities.
Dachshunds are known to be quite stubborn, but love companionship; a tattoo means you and your dog (at least in spirit) will be with you at all times.
