Adventurous ‘Jumanji’ Tattoos

Jumanji, starring a young Kirsten Dunst and the late, great Robin Williams, was released in December 1995 and will next year celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Based on the 1981 book by Chris Van Allsburg, the film was dangerous, dramatic, and full of plenty comic relief thanks to the talent of Williams.

An animated television series followed on from the success at the box office and ran from 1996 until 1999. Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), another film based on Van Allsburg’s published work, is also said to have taken place in the same universe.

For over 20 years Jumanji was left untouched and still remained a beloved movie by children and adults alike. In 2017 Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released and surprisingly (given Hollywood’s often attempted cash grabs with sequels) was a success due to excellent casting and how they managed to make the game relevant to the modern day.

2024 marks the fifth anniversary of the third film in the franchise, Jumanji: The Next Level has just hit cinemas. Who knows how many more sequels, prequels or remakes there are to come.

Jumanji has such a place in our hearts, but not so much on our skin as so few (decent) tattoos can be found online. Take a look at my top picks and just maybe you’ll hear the sounds of those drums drawing you to your favourite artist for a new tattoo…
