With Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice almost here, this calls for a second Beetlejuice themed tattoo list here on TTA. You may have noticed in the first list that Lydia Deetz barely featured, but I’m making it up to you now.
Back in 1988, we were introduced to a sad and lonely goth girl, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, as she moved from New York City with her father and step-mother to their new home in Winter River, Connecticut. In fact, it’s on moving day that Lydia spots the home’s former owners, the ghosts of Adam and Barbara Maitland.
The one and only person able to see them, Lydia manages to take a Polaroid photo of them, thinking it was her parents, before realising neither of them have feet. She shared with the pair that she read through (and understood) the Handbook for the Recently Deceased, and the trio soon form a strong bond.
Lydia’s almost marriage to Beetlejuice would have been terrible, but gave us that iconic red outfit that many tattoo collectors also seem to love.
