Directed by John Carpenter – the man behind such classics as Escape from New York, Halloween, and They Live – the 1982 film The Thing was based on the 1938 novella Who Goes There?
Set in Antarctica, a group of American researchers uncover death and destruction at the Norwegian base and soon learn that they’re the next targets of a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form. The practical effects budget for the film was increased a number of times during production which resulted in some pretty amazing “Thing” transformation and death scenes.
A prequel was released in 2011, just like how the new sequel to 1978’s Halloween has the same name, it too was titled The Thing. Do you prefer the original The Thing or the prequel?
Some dodgy tattoo artists could be considered similar to the “Thing” as they assimilate into the tattoo community, representing themselves online as reputable and highly skilled, but in reality they are not what they appear. Be smart, be safe, and get yourself a truly horrifying, but well executed, The Thing tattoo like the ones below.
