What John Hughes was to heartfelt dramatic comedy teen/family movies, Kevin Williamson was to teen horror movies. Williamson’s characters and screenplays are now a source of nostalgia for millions who were teens and pre-teens in the late ’90s.
First was Scream in 1996, followed by Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer (based on Lois Duncan’s book of the same name) in 1997, The Faculty in 1998, and Teaching Mrs Tingle (which he also directed) in 1999.
While Sarah Michelle Gellar was kicking vampire butt in Buffy, she wasn’t so lucky when it came to Scream 2 or I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1998, but Kevin Williamson had no involvement in the movie.
As shocked as I am that this franchise is so underrepresented in the tattoo world, I think I would be even more shocked if someone were to get a tattoo inspired by that beyond atrocious film, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.
There were rumours swirling that the fourth film was to be titled I’ll Never Forget What You Did Last Summer, but much like the fifth installment in the Scream franchise, the 2025 film serves as a requel (a reboot and sequel) and take its name from the original.
If you’re a fan of the …What You Did Last Summer franchise, I know exactly what you’ll be doing this summer – going to the cinemas to watch I Know What You Did Last Summer. What I can’t be sure of is whether you’ll get a tattoo to represent one, two, three, or even all four films.
