The first-ever Polly Pocket was produced by Englishman, Chris Wiggs for his daughter, with the small dollhouse created in an old powder compact. Six years later the toy was licensed, and being produced and sold to young girls around the world.
Polly Pocket has evolved over the years, having been redesigned with different sizes and accessories. and the introduction of other characters. As most trends in toys come and go, Polly Pocket’s sales inevitably dropped which saw them begin being discontinued in various countries in the early 2010s, and ceasing all manufacturing in 2015.
Since we’ve run out of original ideas (whether it be television, film or toys), 2018 marked the comeback of Polly Pocket. The toys hitting the shelves once again coincided with a new television series, introducing Polly Pocket to a whole new generation; children of the original fans can now enjoy the toys (or a variation thereof) their own mothers played with at their age.
Given the fact that the original Bluebird Toys versions are now valuable collectables, a tattoo could be a cheaper alternative to grasp that nostalgic feeling so many of us long for.
