Midsommar is a folk-horror film written and directed by Ari Aster. Released in July 2019, the joint US-Swedish production was actually filmed in Budapest, Hungary.
The film follows a group of friends that travel to Sweden to attend a once-in-90-year festival, and if IT (and Pennywise’s resurgence every 27 years) has taught us anything, nothing good could possibly happen. What the friends soon come to realise is that they’re dealing with a pagan cult.
With excellent critic reviews, Midsommar had an immediate devoted fan base, with people rushing to the tattoo parlour for a piece inspired by their new favourite film. In the five years since its release, the number of people with a Midsommar tattoo continues to grow – this list will definitely be getting updated in the near future.
