A third generation wrestler, Windham Rotunda (his name a combination of his mother and father’s surnames) was better known as Bray Wyatt. He and his brother (Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy) come from a family of wrestlers: grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan; uncles Barry and Kendall Windham; and his father, Mike Rotunda (known as Irwin R. Schyster and Mr. Wallstreet, amongst others).
Long before becoming Bray Wyatt, he made his debut 15 years ago in Florida Championship Wrestling and won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship with his brother that same year. As part of the first season of NXT, he was renamed Husky Harris. It wasn’t until 2012 that he was repackaged as Bray Wyatt. As leader of The Wyatt Family, his first main roster match was against Kane in a Ring of Fire match at 2013’s SummerSlam.
2019 saw the evolution of Bray Wyatt. He began featuring in Firefly Fun House segments, where he hosted a surreal children’s program, interacting with sinister puppets, Mercy the Buzzard, Abby the Witch, Ramblin’ Rabbit and Huskus the Pig Boy. Transforming into The Fiend, he donned a demonic-looking mask. Rather fittingly, The Fiend became Universal Champion on October 31/Halloween 2019. Like many champions before, The Fiend had his own custom belt.
Wyatt was released from WWE in 2021, but returned just a year later, alongside real life versions of the Firefly Fun House characters. Wyatt’s final WWE appearance was the 2023 Royal Rumble where he defeated LA Knight. After dealing with an illness for the better half of the year, it was expected that Wyatt was set to return to the ring. He sadly passed away on August 24, aged 36.
The wrestling legacy of the Bray Wyatt character now lives on in these tattoos and in the Wyatt Sicks stable.
