It’s About Time for Some ‘Sharknado’ Tattoos

Given its release 11 years ago and subsequent cult following, you’ve likely heard of the made-for-television movie, Sharknado, but did you know that there’s five sequels and three spin-offs?

The ridiculous premise of the city of Los Angeles being inundated with shark-infested seawater during a hurricane is so far removed from Jaws where the danger of a shark attack in a beach town is very real.

Sharknado was aired three times on the Syfy channel during July 2013, seeing an increase in viewers due to trending on Twitter and being mentioned by many celebrities – it was broadcast around the world in the following months.

2014 saw the release of Sharknado 2: The Second One, with each installment levelling up the craziness. The final (for now) film The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time was broadcast in 2018.

Which film in the Sharknado universe is your favourite?

Lately, my Instagram feed has been flooded with Moo Deng tattoos since the pygmy hippos birth. I’m honestly surprised how long it’s taken for me to see a Sharknado tattoo. Social media certainly was different back in the day compared to what it is now.

Two of the Sharknado spin-offs involve lava-breathing tarantulas, so to properly represent the franchise, you could incorporate both sharks and tarantulas in your tattoo.
